El 4 Encino Election Statement

I am running again for the Planning and Land Use (PLU) seat. I have relevant experience as I have been on the Committee for about 9 years. During the last 6 years, I have been Chair of the Committee. The Committee has seen diverse projects, from nursing homes to apartment buildings, the remodeling of Shopping Centers, and expanding a private school.

The importance of the PLU is bringing the developer and the neighbors together. The neighborhoods to a project need to be fully informed on the project. They need to know how the traffic will be mitigated, whether their privacy and serenity will be violated. How much construction noise for how long, what are the haul roots? Will, there be enough parking, will the building cast a shadow on my property? Ideally, the Developer and Neighbors in a public forum that the PLU provides begin a complex negotiation. I have become good at facilitating each side's understanding of what is needed to mitigate project drawbacks and be good neighbors.

As President of Homeowners of Encino, I have worked on every issue that affects Encino's quality of life. I am familiar with Homeless issues, Air Noise, Traffic, Safety, L.A. Budget Issues, Mansionization, Infrastructure, and how to work with CD5 to get things done. I use this experience in debate and discussion with the board on a range of issues affecting our Community. I have many endorsements from Community Leaders, both past and present.

I have lived in Encino since 2003. My wife, Julie, and I raised 4 daughters here. We also raised four dogs who have enjoyed the park on Libbit. I have had a successful career on Wall Street. As a Private Equity firm managing partner, I have guided Real Estate investments in a dozen states, Mexico and Europe. I have advocated for the development of significant Real Estate assets and one who has also seen the need to mitigate and downsize developments locally to fit into the Community Plan. I believe I am in a unique position to guide the Planning and Land Use Committee for the next couple of years.
